Research works on ionic liquids chemistry have been published as two papers. One is a work on the conversion of furfural derivatives to useful chemicals, and the reaction in ionic liquids provides high efficiency. This work, published in RSC Adv., was mainly performed by Valerie, a former post-doc in our group, and Yuto helped some part. The other work, published in Chem. Lett., is on the development of new type of ionic liquids, mainly performed by Yuto. In this paper, we propose a new concept of ionic liquids, solubility switchable ionic liquids. We realised this new type of ionic liquids using the chemistry of protective group, and Very weak acidic conditions changes its lipophilicity into hydrophilicity. We had small celebration of the completion of the work with champagne.
