Development of new functional molecules

We are interested in quinone dimer derivatives and have developed a new facile route to prepare these derivatives. Hydroquinone dimer derivative shows relatively strong fluorescence which disappears by oxidative treatment that leads quinione dimer derivatives. We have successfully modified the derivatives for achieving water-solubility. We are now examining to install bioactive molecules to this structure and try to develop a new bio-imaging materials. We are also interested in 1,5-diaza-1,3-pentadiene that shows strong yellow color, that disappears by adding steric hindrance at ortho position by tilting the conformation of the 1,5-diazapentadiene. These molecules are expected as a new functionalized molecules and we are now exploring new chemistry with these new molecules.
