Use supercritical alcohols as a media for polymer breaking down

Combination use of supercritical MeOH and organocatalysts effectively breaks down plastics into monomeric materials. Recently we have successfully achieved the first up-grade depolymerization method, in which highly-valuable chemicals are prepared in the depolymerization reaction. The methodology was recently improved and the production of such a high-valued products is performed in much efficiently way. This will open a new avenue for chemical recycling of plastics for overcoming economical problems.
