We are pleased to announce that 6th Choshu-London symposium in organic chemistry wiil be held in 17/January/2013 at Ube Tokiwadai campus, Yamaguchi University. This symposium started in 2005 in commemoration of the first Japanese foreign students from Choshu, old name of Yamaguchi, studying in UCL. This happend almost 150 years ago, and based on this histrocal event, YU and UCL started the relationship between them and have deeped the exchanges. In this symposium we have an honour to invite Professor William B. Motherwell, University College London. Professor Motherwell is one of the big names in organic chemistry in the world, and there are so many famous publications so far. He is also an Alexander Willamson Professor in UCL. Professor Willamson, famous as a finder of Williamson ether synthesis, is the person who cared the first Samurai students from Japan just after their arriving. So Professor Motherwell is the right person for the invitation in this time.
In the symposium three of young and active researchers in Yamaguchi University is also going to give their scientific talk. The symposium will be a stimulating and exciting time for new chemistry. I hope many participants come and enjoy the symposium.
