Akio Kamimura, PhD, Professor of Organic Chemistry

Born in Kyoto in October, 1959, BS in 1982 in Kyoto University,

MS in 1984 in Kyoto University, PhD in 1987 from Kyoto University,

Graduate School of Science, Department of Chemistry.

working at Yamaguchi University (since 1987) and

Imperial college London (1993 - 1995),

promoted as a full professor since 2004.

Since 2006, professor in Department of Applied Molecular Bioscience,

Graduate School of Medicine, Yamaguchi University.

Research fields:

Synthetic organic chemistry. Main interests are on organoradical

chemistry, organosulfur chemistry, heterocyclic chemistry,

asymmetric synthesis, ionic liquids chemistry, environmental

application for organic chemistry.

Members:

The Chemical Society of Japan, The American Chemical Society, Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC, CChem)

Publications :

more than 120 scientific papers and about 10 books including translation works.

Other things of my interests:

Studying foreign languages, especially the languages spoken in the country I have visited (but it is quite difficult learn, in particular French!). Amateur radio (licensed since 1976, DXCC is more than 300, used be active in DX, local, new modes (RTTY, SSTV, etc), and EME (moon bounce on JT65 mode) QSOs. Currently I am too busy to get a time to enjoy that, This is a sad thing. Another thing is collecting stamps on passport. I like to visit other countries in a symposium or a chemistry meeting.

Favorite team:

Renofa Yamaguchi (a local football team, the champion of J3 league in 2015, will be promoted to J2 league in 2016. Congratulations!)

Hanshin Tigers (a professional baseball team in Osaka)
